INFRARED PARKING
Odiseo
Murcia, 2020
+++
The project aims at the lighting and interior design of an underground parking, belonging to a leisure center located in the city of Murcia, which houses several restaurants, a nightclub and a casino. Based on the precepts learned from previous experiences (“durability”, “low maintenance”, “light as a construction material”), the proposal focuses on building a lobby for the building above: a welcoming experience, a transition to the atmospheres that will come later, a warm-up parking.
To do so, lighting colour temperature turns deliberately and intentionally warm: amber, near infrared. In order to soften the low-cost scenes that, inevitably, often appear in this kind of spaces (concrete walls and columns, exposed installations, industrial floors). This lighting materializes in linear luminaires that represent flows of movement and chevrons of direction that guide the parking user.
Supporting the same idea, a deep red metal chain curtain, properly illuminated, surrounds the central area and defines an especial area for the VIP clients, transmitting sensations of quality and distinction.
The combination of its layout and design strategy turns this interior area into a versatile room, capable of occasionally hosting all kinds of events and presentations, thus broadening the functional spectrum of these types of spaces, which are usually underused.
